El Mozote may be a village within the Morazán department in El Salvador. It had been the location of the El Mozote massacre throughout the warfare in Dec one981 once nearly 1,000 civilians were killed by the US-trained Atlacatl Battalion, backed by the Salvadoran government.
Atlactl Battalion entered the village of El Mozote with an idea in mind. The Battalion’s mission: to eliminate everybody within the village WHO stood in their means of capturing the Guerilla. Within the lapse of 3 days each denizen of the village was dead. On the fatal day of Dec ten, troopers rousted the civilians from their homes and gathered them within the central plaza wherever they were forced to change posture on the streets.
