To the north of the town is an extensive stretch of sand which has attracted tourism and discrete housing developments.
El Cotillo, in the northwest of the island of Fuerteventura, has several beaches which are mostly nudist. It belongs to the municipality of La Oliva and you can visit an interesting church, the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Buen Viaje, and a tower-fortress known as El Tostón, from the 17th century. Along with Corralejo, this fishing village provides one of the most seafaring images of Fuerteventura. You can try the island’s fine fish at the port.
