Detail InformationEdit

The exhibition in this showroom was staged after ancient iron smelting devices were discovered during excavation works for the town hall and bank building in autumn 1972. Archeologists found out, that in this place were formerly several kilns for the extraction of iron, dating back to the last decades before Christ. One of the excavated smelting furnaces was left in its original state (in the cellar wall of the town hall), proving that as early as 2000 years ago Oberpullendorf was an important industrial area.
