The Rímac Building, also known as the Roosevelt House is a building located in the center of the city of Lima, capital of Peru. Located on Avenida Bolivia against the Naval Heroes Walk, it serves as the starting point of the Paseo de la República. The Polish architect Ricardo de Jaxa Malachowski designed the building which was built between 1919 and 1924 during the construction boom in the city of Lima lead by the government of Augusto B. Leguía. It was built for Rimac Insurance Company and consists of departments for residential use as well. Featuring a French style, Edificio Rimac was one of the first apartment buildings to be built in Lima. Since the 1980s the building fell in a significant deterioration and is currently used mainly for housing offices. However, its facade has been restored in recent years.
