Edgehill Church At Spuyten Duyvil may be a United Church of Christ parish church placed at 2550 Independence Avenue within the Spuyten Duyvil neighborhood of The Bronx, the big apple town. Its congregation was originally supported in 1869 because the mission chapel related with the Riverdale Protestant denomination, serving the employees at the close Johnson metalworks.
The church, delineated by the AIA Guide to the big apple town as a “picturesque eclectic sanctuary”, was designed by designer Francis Kimball in a very mixture of designs – Romanesque architecture Revival, Tudor Revival and Shingle vogue – and was engineered from 1888-1889. It options glass windows designed by gladiator Comfort creative person.
By 1977, the church’s congregation had fallen dramatically. Plans were proclaimed to shut the church and convert it into a civic center, the pastoral leadership was assumed by the Rev. Dr. William A. Tieck, a retired Methodist, UN agency semiconductor diode the congregation till his death in 1997. The church was selected a brand new royal house town landmark in 1980 below the name “Riverdale Protestant Chapel”, and was added to the National Register of Historical Places on 1982.
