Durgapur is a city in the state of West Bengal located about 160 km from Kolkata, in Burdwan District.The city has established itself with big shopping malls, arcades, cine halls and host of eateries. One can purchase things such as steel, carbon black, the Bankura horse available either in terracotta or wood and the Vishnupur Baluchari. Places of tourist interest include the Durgapur Barrage, Kumarmangalam Park, and Troika Park for kids. Adorned with many temples and mosques the city celebrates Durgapuja, Kalipuja, Rath jatra, Id and Muharram with much vigor and color. The biggest gym of Durgapur Mantra is one of the places which one should visit to know the real fun of life to see the exquisite fitness station. Durgapur attracts tourists to see the modern India, enthralled with industrialization. It can be assured that all facilities are there to make your stay as enjoyable and fun filled as possible. Best season to visit Durgapur is between October and February. October to February is ideal for visit to nearby attractions and wandering around the city. April and May are very hot and tourists typically avoid travel during these months. June to August is accompanied with rains and is suitable for short travels only.

By Air : Kolkata is the major Airport available nearby, which is about 175 km away from Durgapur. Kolkata is well connected to many foreign cities and to most of the Indian cities. Taxi fare is about Rs 3,000 from Kolkata to Durgapur.
By Train : Durgapur railway station is well connected to all major cities in India, including Howrah (Chambal Express), Delhi (Sdah Rajdhaniex), Guwahati (Dbrt Rajdhani), Amritsar (Amritsar Mail) and Allahabad (Sdah Ajmer Exp). Many daily trains, express and super fast trains, are connecting the various stations in West Bengal and neighboring states.
By Bus : State owned bus services provide transport facilities from Durgapur to most of the cities in and around. Deluxe A/C luxury buses are available from Kolkata (175 km) and Guwahati. It charges about Rs 3 per km.

By Other : Auto rickshaws are easy to find and they are usually available at all parts of the city. CNG auto rickshaws are pollution free autos that are available from the city center.
