The Durga Shah Municipal Public Library was established in the year 1933 by Mohan Lal Shah. It was the first public library in the Nainital region. The library is named after the father of Mohan Lal shah. The library was made by the donation given by Mohan Lal Shah. The library is counted as one of the best libraries in Uttarakhand with a collection of different and variety of books.
