Each day began early with a cornetist sounding Reveille. Gradually, the fort came to life and another sign brought horse-mounted troopers trotting onto the sector for the flag-raising. Assignments were proclaimed, and also the troops headed intent on patrol the Mammoth outpouring Terraces or different close attractions. Those remaining behind assumed the unending task of caring for the post’s horses.
At dusk, the cornetist known as all troopers back to the sector for the lowering of the flag, and also the day was finished with a cannon firing from the highest of Capitol Hill. Faucets was contend as lights winked out and quiet settled over the fort.
