Spread along both sides of the Wouri River, Doula, linked by the Bonaberi Bridge is basically divided into the two quarters of Akwa and Bonanjo. Akwa is mostly composed as an entertainment center featuring nightlife, whereas, Bonanjo is an important center of commercial and administrative activities. Doula has a large expatriate population consisting of French and Lebanese who are very often seen in many bars and bistros located on the main thoroughfare along the Douala waterfront areas.
Capital of the Cameroon’s Littoral Province, Douala is the largest city in the country. Located on the banks of the Wouri River, Doula is the commercial capital of Cameroon. Home to the Douala International Airport, it is also a major sea-port through which the country exports oil, cocoa, coffee, timber, metals and fruits. Featuring a tropical monsoon climate, Douala is the richest city in the entire CEMAC region of 11 African countries.
