Dixon Place is associate degree Obie Award winning, Off-Off-Broadway big apple town theater devoted solely to presenting original items of theater, dance, performance art and literature that ar works current. Dixon Place was based in 1986 as a non-profit organization by inventive director Ellie Covan. Operating through many workshop series’, commissioned artists and festivals Dixon Place hosts regarding four hundred artists annually.
Dixon Place has finally moved into its new house at 161A Chrystie Street. Performances started late Oct 2008. The podium includes a totally equipped, flexible, 120-seat laboratory theater, a community house with a lounge and smaller second stage, and a rehearsal studio. Dixon Place has calculable their programming and services can double within the initial 3 years of the space’s existence.
