Dholpur is a city in eastern-most parts of the Rajasthan state of India. It is the administrative headquarters of Dholpur District and was formerly seat of the Dholpur princely state, before Independence.The Talab also includes a magnificent Mughal palace that was built for Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor. Other places to visit in Dholpur include Shergarh fort, National Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary and Van Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary. The region of Dholpur experiences climate in extremes, and the main seasons in Dholpur are those of summer, winter and monsoon. Summers in the town of Dholpur are very hot and winters are mild, making winters an ideal time to visit the place. The monsoon season does not experience much rainfall, and temperatures are quite mild during this time.

By Air : The nearest airport lies in the city of Gwalior, at a distance of around sixty kilometres. Many private carriers operate in this airport, and flights will easily be available to Gwalior from all nearby major cities like Jabalpur and Delhi. Flight fares to Gwalior will range around Rs 4100. You can travel comfortably through flights to Gwalior and opt for a bus ride to Dholpur from there.

By Train : The town of Dholpur has a railway station and although this is not a major railway station, trains from many major cities will be available here. The main cities that Dholpur is connected to through rail are Delhi, Jhansi, Amritsar, Mumbai and Okha. Train fares from Delhi will range around Rs 133 to 157.

By Bus : You can also opt for government buses or private buses in order to reach Dholpur. This is the easiest option, although not the cheapest or the most comfortable. Bus fares will range around Rs 200 to 250 from Delhi to Dholpur.
