Dharmastala is at a distance of about 75 km from Mangalore.Located in a picturesque settings, it is one of the well visited pilgrimage centers in Karnataka.It has 150 ft tall entrance to the township flanked by numerous choultries on either side. Dharmastala literally means a place of Dharma, a path to religion, ritual, duty, righteousness, and alms. The deities of the temple are Shiva who is referred to as Manjunatha, Ammanavaru, Chandranath and the Dharma Daivas (guardian spirits of Dharma) namely Kalarahu, Kalarkayi, Kumaraswamy and Kanyakumari. The temple is considered unique since it belongs to the Shaivite sect of Hinduism.

By Air : The nearest Airport to Dharamsthala is Bajpe Mangalore International Airport, which is at a distance of about 65 km away. There are domestic flights operated from Mangalore to many major cities in South India. Pre-paid taxis are available from airport to Dharamsthala, taxis will charge about Rs 900.

By Train : Nearest major railway station is at Mangalore. Mangalore is a major junction connecting all major railheads in India.

By BUS : There are plenty of buses connecting Dharamsthala from all over the Karnataka state. Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) runs frequently from all nearby cities to Dharamsthala.

By Taxi : Private cabs are the best option for tourists. They are advised to hire cabs for the duration of the stay from either Mangalore or Bangalore and these can be used for local transport around the place. They cost around Rs 1500 per day, waiting charges and driver fee may be applicable as well.
