Dharali is a tiny village that is located in the picturesque district of Uttarakashi in the state of Uttarakhand. The village is known for its numerous apple orchards that can be seen in the surrounding country side. The village is situated on the banks of the River Ganga and there are many pine trees that surround the village of Dharali. The people of this region are friendly and hospitable. One can get an outstanding view of many peaks that are covered with snow and this mere sight itself makes that visit worth the effort. One of the main places to visit in the village is an ancient temple called the Shiva Temple and this has been built in a similar architecture to the Kedarnath Temple. Some of the remaining places to visit in the village and nearby areas are Mukimath Temple, Gangotri, Tapovan, Vasuki, Tal, Chirbasa and Satl Tal. The village of Dharali experiences three distinct seasons and these are the seasons of summer, monsoon and winter. Summers are reasonably hot in this region and temperatures can be high during the peak summer season. Winters are cold in the region and the conditions here are much similar to the conditions of the others parts of the state. The overall climate in Dharali is similar to the climate of Gangotri.

Since the pilgrim center of Gangotri is located close, Dharali can be visited as a day trip from the town. One can also be see many fields of cultivated red beans in the area. By Air : The closest airport is the Jolly Grant Airport that is located in the city of Dehradun. It is situated around 250 km from the village and there are frequent flights to the airport from Delhi. There are three operators that offer services from the capital city of the city of Dehradun. Taxis are available from the airport to the village and they charge Rs 7 per km for the trip. Taxis are the most comfortable way to travel to the village of Dharali.

By Train : For those who are opting to arrive by rail, the best option is the Haridwar Railway Station. The distance from Haridwar to Dharali is around 255 km. The station is well connected to places such as Delhi, Indore, Ahmadabad and Dehradun. Tickets from Delhi to Haridwar cost Rs 140 for a second class berth.

By Taxi : Dharali is located quite close to Gangotri and one can either hire a jeep or take a trek up the short distance through the picturesque landscape.
