You can also visit the Barabati Fort that is situated along the banks of the river, which is home to a nine story palace. There are limited places for accommodation in the island if you are planning to stay. The climate of the island of Dhabaleshwar has a close resemblance to the climate of Cuttack.

Dhabaleswar Temple is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. It is situated at a distance of 37 kilometers from the city of Cuttack, in the exotic island of Dhabaleshwar. It is one of the famous weekend tours from Cuttack. The temple, located in an island on River Mahanadi, is embellished with stone carvings that date back to the early 10th and 11th century. The serene ambiance, in which the temple is situated, inspires spiritual feeling among one and all.The tourists may travel to the Dhabaleshwar Temple from Cuttack city in hired cars and buses that ply regularly along this route. By Air : Dhabaleshwar does not have an airport and one has to travel to the Biju Patnaik Airport that is situated around 30 kilometers away. This domestic airport is a major hub for commercial flights and one can travel to the place from most of the important cities in the country. Frequent flight services are available from all the metropolitan cities and also from smaller cities such as Bagdogra. You can hire a taxi from the airport to the island the drive time is a little more than one hour. They charge around Rs 7 per kilometer as the base rate.

By Train : Dhabaleshwar do not have its own railway station. Nearest railway station is Cuttack station which is connected to several Indian cities and these include Ernakulam, Guwahati, Bangalore, Trivandrum, Chennai, Howrah, Patna, Muzzafarpur and Secunderabad. Trains a popular mode of transport and one has to book tickets at least two months in advance to be assured of a reservation. Tier three A/C tickets from Bangalore to Cuttack cost around Rs 450. You can opt for a taxi from the station to the island of Dhabaleshwar.
