Deoghar, popularly renowned as Baidyanath Dham, is considered as the house of Gods and Goddesses. Deoghar is perfectly located in the Santhal Parganas of the state Jharkhand. It is believed that the Baidyanath (Vaidyanath) Jyotirlingam in Deogarh is associated with legendary stories of Ravana and Lord Shiva. It was at this place Ravana cut off his nine heads to repent and Lord Shiva blessed him by joining back all his heads like a Vaidya. The temple is very famous with thousands of devotees offer their prayers with great devotion and reverence. The Shivalinga here is adorned majestically with jewels and pearls. One can get all kinds of prosperity and long life by praying in this holy place.

Deoghar , 51 Shakti Peethas in India. The main attraction of Deoghar, the Baidyanath temple, is housed inside a boundary wall about 89 feet high. The complex contains a total of 22 temples of varying size, with the Shiva temple in the centre. No one can actually tell since when the temple has been standing here, and by whom it was built. Some people claim it to be a thousand years old, others even more. An ancient myth has it that Lord Vishwakarma (the God of engineers) built the temple himself at the instructions of Lord Narayan.Deoghar first finds its mention in modern history around 200 years ago, when this place was covered by dense forests.Located at the centre of the town is the Tower Clock, a huge structure with a large clock to the top of it. This Tower Clock serves as the landmark of the town.

Shrawan Mela ; Venue:  Deoghar ; Period :  July and August. ; Details:  During the Shrawan Mela, lakhs of devotees from all over the country flock at the Temple at Deoghar or Baba Baidyanath Temple. The Shrawan Mela falls in the months of July and August. The fair continues for about 30 days and is considered as the biggest and longest continuing religious fair in the world.
