Taleju temple which is the huge and tallest building, located behind the wall of the Kathmandu Durbar square is open only once a day in a year during Dashain festival. This huge temple is dedicated to the Taleju Bhawani is the tutelary a goddess of Malla king who ruled Nepal from 14th to 18th century. The inner room of the temple holds a statue of Taleju Bhawani brought from India and off limit at everyone but royal family. She is associated with the legendry living goddess Kumari. Many people believes that the living goddess Kumari is the manifestation or incarnation of the goddess Taleju Bhawani and revered to her accordingly.
