The David S. Brown Store at eight Thomas Street between street and Church Street within the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, big apple town was in-built 1875-76 for a soap manufacturer. It had been designed by J. Morgan Slade within the Victorian Gothic vogue, as influenced by art critic and French fine arts theory. The building has been known as “An elaborate confection of type of architecture, Venetian Gothic, brick, sandstone, granite, and iron elements…” The building was selected a brand new York town landmark in 1978, and was further to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
