Best season to visit Dandeli is from October to May. December to May is blessed with pleasant climate and ideal for sight seeing and white water rafting. October and Novemebr are good for bird watching. March to May is good for water sports activities.

Dandeli is a small town situated in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It is located amidst lush green forest ranges of the Western Ghats along the banks of River Kali. Dandeli is famous for its adventure and eco-tourism It is very famous for wild sanctuary, Paper Mill, Sintheri Rock and Forest resorts.Kali river is the main water source. The quaint town of Dandeli is located in the Indian state of Karnataka and it has good options for local transport and general sightseeing. Movement around Dandeli can easily be done through the a few transport options that are available, including safari tours, buses, river rafting and walking on foot. Dandeli has got a curious history behind its name. Once upon a time there was a person named Dandelappa, who was working as servant in a Mirashi land Lord’s house. One fine day Mirashi’s family lady proposed Dandelappa . Dandelappa’s head and body part went and placed in different places. At present there are two temples at two different places to memorise his existance. As his name was Dandelappa, people named that place as Dandeli.

By Air : The nearest airport to Dandeli is Belgaum, which is about 90 km away. Belgaum is connected to Mumbai and Bangalore by domestic flights. From Belgaum to Dandeli, taxi charge is about Rs 1,300. Bangalore is the nearest International Airport, from where it requires about 12 hours travel (about 466 km) to reach Dandeli by Taxi/ buses.

By Train : Nearest railhead is Alnavar, which is 35 km away from Dandeli. Alnavar is well connected to Belgaum (Rani Chennamma), Bangalore (Chalukya Expres) and Hubli (Haripriya Exp).

By Bus : State owned bus services connect Dandeli with Alnavar (35 km), Dharwad (55 km), Hubli (72 km) and Belgaum (90 km). Tourist buses are available from Bangalore to Dandeli, which covers about 480 km and cost about Rs 1,500.

Safari Ride :The best way to visit all the important places in Dandeli is through a safari ride. These safari rides are organized by the government and cover the entire expanse of the wildlife sanctuary located in Dandeli. A sightseeing safari trip can cost you anywhere around Rs 350 to 500 per head. By opting for a safari you can easily cover all the regions in the wildlife sanctuary and can get a glimpse of rare species of animals and birds like black panthers, leopards, elephants, tigers and bears. No private vehicles are allowed inside the sanctuary.
River Rafting :You can also opt for river rafting and while this is not an actual mode of transport per se, it is an interesting option. This costs around Rs 400.
