Damariscotta may be a city in Lincoln County, Maine, u. S.. A preferred holidaymaker playground, the cities of Damariscotta and Newcastle-upon-Tyne area unit connected by the most Street bridge over the Damariscotta stream, forming the “Twin Villages.” The name Damariscotta is AN Indian name which means “river of very little fish”. The world was once occupied by the Wawenock (or Walinakiak, which means “People of the Bays”) Abenaki Indians, United Nations agency left behind a pair of,500-year-old shell middens on the banks of the Damariscotta stream. The Whaleback Shell Midden is currently a state historic web site. The land became a part of the Pemaquid Patent, granted by the town Council in 1631 to Henry Martyn Robert Aldsworth and Gyles Elbridge, merchants from urban center, England. At Pemaquid (now Bristol), they designed a fort and outlet.
