Daman, one of the less explored cities of India, is gaining immense popularity for its easy accessibility and host of natural attractions offered. Often termed as a heavenly abode by the tourists, Daman is bedecked with sandy beaches, various historical monuments, fascinating Portuguese culture, intricately carved churches and local shops that sell small artifacts. Some of the main attractions in the city include Fort of Moti Daman, Jampore Beach, Pargola Garden, Damanganga, Mirasol Lake Garden, Satya Sagar Udyan, Vaibhav Water World and Fort of Nani Daman. The city is also popular for holding some of the most exotic festivities like Gangaji Fair, Folk Dance Festival and Garba Festival. Daman is one of those few destinations in the country that can be enjoyed all the year round. Mumbai, 193 kms fom Daman houses the nearest airport. However, a railhead at Vapi (12 kms) is the easiest way to reach the city. Also there are good network of roads that connect Daman to the rest of the country.

Daman is one of the lesser known tourist destinations in India and hence the local transportation is not extensive. The nearest airport is at Mumbai and driving down from Mumbai is the best option. The distance from Mumbai to Daman is around 200 km and airport taxis usually charge around Rs 2500 for the drive. The closest railway stations at Vapi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Vapi is around 12 km from Daman and the drive takes around one hour. Daman can also be reached from Vadadora which is around 300 km from the town.

By Air : Daman has a domestic airport, which has flights to Baroda and Mumbai. Mumbai is the nearest international airport, which is 180 km away. Taxi fare is about Rs 3,000 from Mumbai to Daman. Mumbai is connected to all major cities in India and Abroad.

By Train : Nearest railhead is Vapi in the Konkan line, which is about 12 km from Daman. Taxi charges about Rs 150 to cover this distance. Vapi is connected to Mumbai.

By Bus : Public transport buses ply through Daman connecting cities in and around. Luxury bus services from Mumbai (180 km, Rs 600 approx) and Surat (120 km, Rs 400 approx) are available.

By Taxi : The local transport includes share taxis and buses. Some private cabs are also available. Share taxis are convenient and an easy way to travel around the city. They are cheap and can be hailed of the road.
