Often called the spiritual capital of Poland, Częstochowa attracts pilgrims and tourists from the whole World. They flock to the Marian shrine in the Pauline monastery on Jasna Góra (Bright Mountain). The Chapel of the Miraculous Picture contains the icon of the Virgin Mary with the Christ child known as the Black Madonna which attracts millions of pilgrims every year. The monastic museum contains many pieces of art work and votive offerings. From Częstochowa, tourists can continue through the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland which is popular for hiking, climbing, biking and horseback riding.
