Cumberland could be a city within the Comox vale on island in British Columbia, Canada. The village was originally named Union, British Columbia once the Union Coal Company, that was successively named in honour of the 1871 union of British Columbia with Canada. The city was renamed once Cumberland in nice United Kingdom by James Dunsmuir in 1891.
