Cow Camp, set in Joshua tree parkland, was related to Bos taurus rustling within the Eighteen Eighties and Nineties. It had been then later used as a line camp for Bos taurus husbandry. A stone chimney, 2 tiny dams, watering troughs and a well stay. One dam was designed by native farmer and character William F. Keys.
The camp was 1st established by the “McHaney Gang” within the late 1880’s. Bos taurus rustlers used the camp into the 1890’s. Jim McHaney apparently dead the discoverer of the Desert Queen Mine before losing it to a bank, then oversubscribed Cow Camp in 1894 to George Myers. McHaney eventually was condemned of counterfeiting $20 gold items in gold-plated lead and was sentenced to seventeen years in jail. Within the 1920’s Bill Keys, United Nations agency had familial McHaney’s holdings, took over Cow Camp as a part of his husbandry operation.
