Covington was established in 1814 once John Gano, Richard Gano, and Thomas Carneal purchased a hundred and fifty acres (0.6 km2) on the side of the Licking watercourse at its confluence with the river, named as “the purpose,” from Thomas Kennedy for $50,000. the town was incorporated by the Kentucky General Assembly a year later. Covington full-fledged growth throughout most of the nineteenth century, solely to say no throughout the good Depression and therefore the middle twentieth century. the town has seen some renovation throughout the late twentieth and early twenty first centuries.
