Detail InformationEdit

In addition to Teixois’ beautiful houses and buildings, the town has numerous water mills, with their pestle, mill and millwheel, etc. The pestle is mentioned in documents about the hill-fort of the Marquis of Ensenada in the 18th century. It was a tool for pounding iron. The mill was the property of several owners, who used it according to a system called “Quendas”. The fulling machine was used so that the fabrics and textiles would have a better consistency. The millwheel was located in a shed, attached to the cistern’s base in order to take advantage of the force of the water.
