Presenting a diverse topography, 80 percent of the Congo Brazzaville landscape is covered by dense Congo Rainforest. Formerly known as Zaire, Congo Brazzaville should be distinguished from its giant eastern neighbor with the same name. Some of the most interesting wildlife preserves within this country include the Conkouati Reserve, the Lefini Reserve, the Lesio Louna Gorilla Reserve, Mount Fouari National Reserve, the Nouabale-Ndoki National Park, the Odzala National Park and the Tiger Fish Congo Camp.
The Ile Mbamau Island located within the Congo River is a wonderful tourist destination featuring cabanas and a swimming area which are extremely neat and clean. Located at an hour’s drive from Brazzaville, it offers a wonderful contrast for the tourists who generally come to see loads of wildlife in Congo Brazzaville. Otherwise, situated in the central-western part of sub-Saharan Africa, the Congo Brazzaville economy is earnestly dependent on a mix of village agriculture, handicrafts and an industry associated with petroleum.
