Comitán is that the fourth-largest town within the Mexican state of Chiapas. It’s the seat of state of the municipality of a similar name.
It is set within the eastern a part of Chiapas, close to the border with Guatemala at sixteen.25°N 92.13°W. Within the 2005 census the population was eighty three,571 people. Its municipality total was 121,263. The municipality has a neighborhood of one,043.30 km² (402.82 sq mi). Its largest alternative community is that the city of metropolis Yalumá.
The original name given by the native Maya peoples is Balún Canán (“Nine stars”). It had been later modified to Comitán Delaware las Flores and, in 1915, to Comitán Delaware Domínguez, after Dr. Belisario Domínguez, United Nations agency gave a unforgettable speech in Congress against the dictator Victoriano Huerta that he was dead.
