The C&O Railroad bridge could be a cantilever truss railroad bridge over the river between metropolis, Ohio and Covington, Kentucky. The bridge was originally engineered between 1886 and 1889 by a forerunner of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. At the time, its $5,000,000 tag created it the foremost pricy bridge, per foot, ever built. By 1929 it absolutely was obsolete, and a replacement was engineered on extended piers forthwith adjacent to the initial structure.
