The Clement C. Clay Bridge (CC Clay or Whitesburg Bridge) area unit 2 bridges that span the river simply south of Huntsville in northern a part of the U.S. State of Alabama. Each bridges area unit cantilever truss varieties. The first bridge span was in-built 1931 exchange Whites Ferry that crossed the watercourse at near Ditto’s Landing. The second span was made in 1965. Upon completion, the newer span carried south traffic whereas the first span carried northward traffic. The Clay bridge was named when former Alabama Governor and legislator Clement Comer Clay.The 1931 span was replaced by a ferroconcrete structure, that opened in Gregorian calendar month 2006. Demolition of the first span began on August sixteen, 2006. Construction was expected to start in 2007 on a second ferroconcrete structure to switch the 1965 span. The bridge carries America 231 and hidden route AL fifty three between Huntsville (Huntsville Metropolitan Area) and Morgan County (Decatur Metropolitan Area). Before the 1952 extension folks 231, the bridge carried AL thirty eight. North of the bridge, America 231 is thought as Memorial drive.
