Winnsboro could be a city in Fairfield County, South Carolina, u. S.. The population was three,599 at the 2000 census. It’s the seat of Fairfield County. Winnsboro is a component of the Columbia, South Carolina Metropolitan applied math space. Many years before the Revolution, Richard Winn from Virginia moved to what’s currently known as Fairfield County. His lands lined this web site of Winnsboro, and as early as 1777 the settlement was referred to as “Winnsborough”.
The village was arranged out and leased in 1785 upon petition of Richard Winn, John Winn and John Vanderhorst. John, Richard, and Minor Winn all served within the Revolutionary War. Richard was a General and he’s aforesaid to possess fought in additional battles than any Whig in South Carolina. John was a commissioned military officer.
