Clarington may be a municipality in Ontario, North American nation in the Regional Municipality of Durham. It took its gift name in 1994 once having been referred to as the city of metropolis from 1974-93. The name modification was created to alleviate long-standing confusion between the municipality as an entire and therefore the enclosed village of a similar name.
Bowmanville is that the largest community within the municipality and is that the home of the municipal offices. The name “Clarington” may be a portmanteau of the names of the 2 historical townships, Clarke and Darlington, that created up the geographical region.It is a part of the census metropolitan area of Oshawa and forms the eastern end of the Greater Toronto Area.
