The Church Of The Sacred Hearts of mother and Israelite was a former Roman Catholic parish church, primarily serving Italian Americans, that was dismantled. The church was 1st placed on President Street off of Van forcefulness Street and so on Degraw and Hicks Streets, Brooklyn Heights, ny town. The Catholic Mission of the Italian Colony of the town of Brooklyn was established in 1882 by Fr. Joseph Fransioli (sometimes spelled Francioli) in St. Peter’s Church (corner of Warren and Hicks Streets). It had been the primary parish established specifically for Italian immigrants on island.
The church was opened in might 1885 on President Street off of Van forcefulness Street however by 1900 a replacement structure was required. Mother Cabrini came to the parish throughout this point and in 1892 along with her sisters established a faculty for Italian migrant youngsters within the parish. This was underneath the direction of her order. This college, St. Charles’ college, was opened among Associate in Nursing adaptively reused former Moravian church on Van forcefulness Street purchased by Bishop McDonnell of the bishopric of Brooklyn. Once the 1906 completion of the new church, Fr. Vogel unbroken the church on President Street because the Chapel of St. Charles, apparently by-product of Mother Cabrini’s college. Another Church of the Sacred Hearts of mother and Israelite (New royal house City) served Italian-Americans in Kipps Bay, Manhattan.
