The Church and former monastery are the oldest buildings made of bricks in the city, which were rising since 1641. The Church and monastery were founded by foreman A. Kazanowski and his wife Elżbieta Słuszanka.
In 1632 citizen of Bielsk Podlaski – Marcin Bartoszewicz – brought to city friars of the Carmel Assembley. Elżbieta Spinakowa – wife of the castellan of Plock – gave to carmelite friars a site and a house on Litewska Street. The foreman of Bielsk – Adam Kazanowski – helped carmel friars to develop. Since 1641 he has been helping to build wooden church and made of brick monastic buildings. In 1784, during the fire, church and a part of monastic buildings were destroyed. The new temple was rebuilt in neo-classic style with the portico on the facade. However they gave up the reconstruction of two side wings of the monastery. In 1802 Prussian authorities moved Bielsk’s friars to caramel assembley in Wąsosz. Empty monastic buildings were seized for military purposes and for the prison system. In 1803-1838 temple was used by Greek Catholic parish of the Holy Resurrection Church. Since 40’s of 19th century temple was garrison Orthodox Church. In 1866 it was consecrated on the Holy Trinity Church.
