Detail InformationEdit
Christian Cemetery, a historic location in Ambala, is located on Jagadhari Road. Built during the British reign for the burial of their Christian soldiers, the Christian Cemetery is a heritage site that dates back to the 17th century. Some of the tombs in the cemetery belong to the members of their families. A few of the tomb stones are architecturally impressive with ornate designs and beautifully written epitaphs while a few have only been marked by a stone cross. This cemetery is spread across an area of 22 acres. Though under the ownership of the Government of Haryana, this ancient graveyard is currently in ruins and most of the memorials are broken. Efforts are being made by Haryana Government to save this heritage site. Cemetery renovation plan includes constructing a boundary wall, building small paths between the tombs for the convenience of the visitors, provision of proper lighting and allotting funds for appropriate maintenance. The Christian Cemetery remains open throughout the year. This cemetery is visited by those who are interested in history and by tourists as well. The place is best suited for student groups as the cemetery has a lot of historical importance.
