Chirakkal Museum of Folk Art displays antiques, traditional households & commercial articles, measuring instruments and agricultural implements of Kerala. The prime feature here is the Theyyam Gallery, which exhibits and display costumes, ornaments, headgears, weapons and pictures of different Theyyam (a ritualistic performing folk art of North Malabar).Tourists can also get a glimpse of live size figures of some Theyyam characters here. Set close to Kannur, one can easily reach the museum by bus or taxi.

Chirakkal Museum of Folk Art is a nearby to Arakkal Museum that can be visited. Kolathiris are the successors of Mooshiks Kings who ruled northern Kerala in the first century AD. The detailed history of this dynasty and hidden history of this region is mentioned in the “Mooshika Vamsham” a Sanskrit poetic text, written by Athulan in the tenth century AD. Mooshika Vamsham is believed to be one of the earliest Sanskrit books written based on the history of northern Kerala.
