The Chinook Pass Entrance Arch marks the east entrance to Mount Rainier parkland. The oblong log entry arch is one amongst many placed at the entrances to the park. It absolutely was designed in 1933 by the parkland Service Branch of Plans and styles, and was in-built 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The arch consists of 2 stone abutments carrying horizontal logs over the road. The arch functions as a bridge, carrying a horse path, that is currently a part of the Pacific Crest path.
The Chinook Pass arch was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on March thirteen, 1991. It’s a part of the Mount Rainier National Historic Landmark District, that encompasses the whole park and that acknowledges the park’s inventory of Park Service-designed rustic design.
