Chincheros is a town in southern Peru, capital of the province with the same name in the region Apurímac. It is located on an Andean plain at an elevation of 3762 m and 30 km from Cuzco. Located midway the city of Cusco and Urubamba lies the Inka town of Chinchero. There was a time when Chinchero became part of a higher-rank Inkan administration centre.
