Chatham may be a city in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, u. S., Barnstable County being coterminous with peninsula. Chatham is home to the Monomoy National life Refuge, situated on Monomoy, and to Monomoy Theatre. Chatham is home to the Chatham pharos, that was established by President Thomas Jefferson in 1808 to shield the ships circling the Cape. Originally consisting of 2 lights, the combine were stirred back and restored in 1877. The second was stirred to Eastham to become the Nauset lightweight in 1923, once each were upgraded to rotating lights. Today, the keeper’s home is home to a Coast Guard station that tends the sunshine.
