Chateauguay is associate off-island community of city, in southwestern Quebec, set each on the Chateauguay stream and animal product St-Louis, that could be a section of the St. Lawrence stream. The population as of the Canada 2006 Census was forty two,786. The land was initial given to Charles LeMoyne by the governor of latest France at the time, the Isidore Auguste Marie Francois Comte DE Frontenac with the intention of fixing a seigneurie within the space.

The seigneurie was bought by Marguerite d’Youville, a founding father of the Quebec spiritual society the gray Nuns in 1765 and ten years later construction began on the Church of Saint-Joachim.
