Chaibasa is a town that is situated in the state of Jharkhand in the district of West Singhbum. It is an old city and archeologists have found sites that date back to the time of the Stone Age. The town is still predominantly tribal in nature. However it has a reasonably well developed infrastructure. The town is surrounded by hills and there are steep cliffs that can be seen here. The town is one of the most scenic locations in the state and has become a popular tourist attraction. The tribal background and the nature of the town attract many visitors and visiting this place can be an interesting experience. One can visit many tribal festivals in the area and these are accompanied by rustic music and dances. These festivals are generally extremely colorful and are a phenomenal experience. One can also purchase handicrafts that are made by the local population and these are interesting souvenirs. Lupungutu is a popular picnic spot and there is a small waterfall located here as well. One can also visit an ancient temple dedicated to Shiva at Ramthirta. There is a temple known as Kiching Temple and another Shiva Temple in the place. It is also worth visiting the excavation site at Benisagar. The climatic conditions of the town of Chaibasa are varied and one can expect extreme conditions during different parts of the year.

Chaibasa comes under the district of West Singhbhum which is one of the oldest districts of Jharkhand. Subsequently three districts were carved out of it namely East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan.

By Air : There is no airport in Chaibasa.The nearest airport is located at Ranchi and this is the most viable option for those who are planning to arrive by air. The Ranchi Airport is connected to a few cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Patna. Three main operators ply to the Ranchi Airport. Up on arrival you can opt for a taxi from the stand outside the airport. They charge around Rs 3300 for a small car such as Tata Indica and Rs 4500 for an SUV such as Chevrolet Tavera.
By Train : The town of Chaibasa has a railway station that is connected to the city of Kolkata and a few other places. Train travel is generally cheap and many visitors prefer this mode of transport. Trains are comfortable and second class tickets from Kolkata to Chaibasa cost Rs 180. Taxis are available outside the station.

By Taxi : Chaibasa is well connected by a road network and national highways. The tourist can reach to Chaibasa by taxi. The normal Indian taxi charges of Rupees 8 to 20 will be charged for each km.
