In 1838, underneath the direction of President of the u. S. Andrew Jackson Indian Removal Act, a fortification was engineered on what’s known as “Furnace Field” for the aim of forced internment of the Cherokee individuals, nearly 300 Cherokee individuals were control in horrifying and squalid conditions. [*fr1] starved and raped by their captors, illness was rampant, several of the previous and young died, before the still living Cherokees, around 200, were then forcibly marched on foot down the path of Tears to Indian reservations in Oklahoma.
