The importance of this port city in the state of Gujarat is best revealed through a study of the history of Porbandar. A study of the Porbandar history through archaeological excavations has revealed the presence of the city during the Harappan civilization. Old jetties discovered around the Porbandar creek reveal that the city had been a port during that time. Rest of the area is covered by west’s arabina seaSudamapuri or porbandar is situated at a distance of 105 km from junagadh. “pare” means small population. The population settled on Oceanside is also known as pare porbandar is famous as birth place of gandhiji and sudama. He was special friend of lord Krishna.
