Dholavira is an ancient city that is located in the state of Gujarat and it is one of the oldest archeological sites that are located in the country. Dholavira is located in the Kutchh Desert Sanctuary in an island that is called Khadir Bet. Some of the items that have been excavated in the area are pots, animal bones, terra cota items, seals, silver and even gold items. Dhauli hills are located on the banks of the river Daya, 8 km south of Bhubaneswar in Odisha. It is a hill with vast open space adjoining it, and has major Edicts of Ashoka engraved on a mass of rock, by the side of the road leading to the summit of the hill. Dhauli hill is presumed to be the area where the Kalinga War was fought.Ashoka had a special weakness for Dhauli, where the battle was fought. The Daya river is said to have turned red with the blood of the many deceased after the battle, and enabled Ashoka to realize the magnitude of horror associated with war. He saw to it that Dhauli became an important centre of Buddhist activities. He built several chaityas, stupas and pillars there. He got abodes excavated for the recluse, instructions inscribed for officials, expounded the main principles of dandaniti for the public, provided special status to his new kingdom including the stupas at Dhauli.

Trains can also be taken to the major railway station in Raipur, which has great connectivity to all major Indian cities. Trains from cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Nagpur will be available at this station (in Raipur). The villages of Dha Hanu are located at a distance of about 163 km to the south west of Leh in Jammu and Kashmir. In this area, there are numerous small villages but tourists are only allowed to visit the villages of Dha and Hanu. Being stationed on a lower altitude, these villages have a little warmer climate when compared to that of Leh. The main attraction of the Dha and Hanu is an opportunity to have a glimpse of Drokpa community. This community is believed to be the last race of Aryans, confined to the Dha Hanu valley. The natural beauty is another attraction of Dha and Hanu villages. With their pure Aryan features, the culture and religious practices in these villages are quite alike the ancient pre-Buddhist religion, called as Bon-Chos. Tourism in Dha Hanu, Ladakh is not that popular but one can pay a visit to get a glimpse of Drokpa community, its divine and natural beauty. Dah, or Dha, and Hanu are two villages of the Brokpa of the Ladakh District of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. They are the only two villages that tourists are allowed to visit out of a number of Brokpa villages.Dhahanu is situated to the south west of Leh, around 163 kms, passing through the beautiful villages of Kaltsey, Domkhar, Skurbuchan and Achinathang. There are many small villages but only two villages of Dha and Hanu are open for tourist. Being on lower altitude Dhahanu is warmer than Leh.The Dard people of Dah Hanu are nominally Buddhist but also worship their own Pantheon of gods. They have an Indo-European appearance in contrast to the predominant Tibeto-Mongol inhabitants of most of Ladakh. a lower altitude, Dha and Hanu are warmer than Leh.

By Air : Different airline services provide regular services from Leh to Delhi and Srinagar and the tickets are moderately priced. Jet Airways operate 6 flights in a week from Delhi and 1 flight in a week from Srinagar.Major cities in and abroad can be reached through Delhi. Travel from Leh airport to the town costs about Rs 1,000 by taxi.

By Train : Jammu is the nearest railway station, which is about 734 km from Leh. Since Leh does not have railway station train travel is not possible. Tourists will wither have to take a bus or hire a cab both of which will take approximately 2 days to reach Leh. Tourists can also hire a bus from Manali (453 km), however, the Manali – Leh road is open only from the months from mid-June to mid-October, due to weather conditions.

By Bus : JKSRTC provide service from Srinagar to Leh (700 km) which takes two days and HRTC provide service from Manali to Leh (474 km), which takes about 20 hours or two days if you halt in between. Jeep services are also available here. Buses will charge you anywhere between Rs 1,500 to 2,000 per person for a one way trip.

By Air : Dhabaleshwar does not have an airport and one has to travel to the Biju Patnaik Airport that is situated around 30 kilometers away. This domestic airport is a major hub for commercial flights and one can travel to the place from most of the important cities in the country. Frequent flight services are available from all the metropolitan cities and also from smaller cities such as Bagdogra. You can hire a taxi from the airport to the island the drive time is a little more than one hour. They charge around Rs 7 per kilometer as the base rate.

By Train : Dhabaleshwar do not have its own railway station. Nearest railway station is Cuttack station which is connected to several Indian cities and these include Ernakulam, Guwahati, Bangalore, Trivandrum, Chennai, Howrah, Patna, Muzzafarpur and Secunderabad. Trains a popular mode of transport and one has to book tickets at least two months in advance to be assured of a reservation. Tier three A/C tickets from Bangalore to Cuttack cost around Rs 450. You can opt for a taxi from the station to the island of Dhabaleshwar.
