Hajo is an ancient pilgrimage centre for three religions: Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims. It lies on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, 24 km from the city of Guwahati in the Kamrup district of Assam, India. The area is dotted with a number of ancient temples as well as other sacred artifacts. The Hayagriva Madhava Mandir is the most famous temple of Hajo. Lesser known temples of Hajo like that of Ganesha was constructed during the reign of Ahom King Pramatta Singha in 1744 AD. The Kedareswara Temple, a Shiva temple, has inscription on the temple showing that it is of Rajeswar Singha period. Though Hayagriva Madhab is the most popular, Hajo has a number of other temples dating back to the 18th century. Ganesh Temple, built on a giant, elephant-shaped rock is also called Deva Bhavana and is traditionally the meeting place of all the deities of the region.

By Air : Flights cannot be taken directly to the town of Hajo, and they can however be taken to the nearby city of Guwahati. Guwahati is a chief location in the state and is well connected to many other places including Chennai, Delhi, Tezpur, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Silchar, North Lakhimpur and Mumbai. Flights from the capital city of Delhi to Guwahati will charge fares of around Rs 6,000. This is a very comfortable option that you can take, in order to reach Hajo. Hingoli is a city of Indian state of Maharashtra. It is headquarter of the district of the same name ’Hingoli District’. He was born in 1270 AD in the village of Narsi of the Hingoli district. Fair is organized every year in his memory. By Air : Agatti is the nearest airport at Lakshadweep and is located about 56 km from Kavaratti. It is well connected with mainland at Kochi (Cochin) from where all other airports in India are networked. The flight from Cochin International Airport to Agatti Island at Lakshadweep takes one hour and thirty minutes approximately, and it operates six days a week.

By Train : Indian Railways do not provide their services to Lakshadweep islands. There is no train facility to reach Lakshadweep islands. Similarly, there is also no providence of any buses being plied.

By Other : M.V Tipusultan, M.V. Bharatseema, M.V Aminidivi and M.V Minicoy are the passenger ships that operate from Cochin to the islands of Lakshadweep. These voyages take around 14 to 20 hours. There are direct ships from Kochi to Agatti, Kavaratti, Kadmath, Amini. Speed boats provide inter transportation facilities. The Shree Ganesh temple is a famous religious destination that is located in the town of Rajur, around twenty five kilometres away from the town of the city. This temple is especially crowded during the time of Ganesh Chathurthi, as a lot of devotees congregate here during this time. You can also visit the Matsyodari Devi temple, which is located twenty one kilometres away from the town. The temple is located on top of a hill, which is shaped like a fish, and this is a major tourist attraction. This temple is an ancient one. While in Jalna, you can also visit the Shree Jagadamba Devi temple, which is located quite near the town at a distance of about two kilometres. This temple is 300 years old, and located atop a hill. This temple is crowded during Tuesdays, so make sure that you don’t travel to this temple during the time.
