Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, would force a change of opinion. Gurudongmar is located in the Indian state of Sikkim. Gurudongmar is famous among tourists for its lake, which is located at an altitude of 17100 feet (roughly 5210 meters). This region lies in the northern part of Sikkim, and is located at a distance of around five kilometers from the Chinese border. Gurudongmar is located in a place called Mangan in Northern Sikkim, and this region is open exclusively to travelers and tourists who have permits. Gurdaspur is a city in the State of Punjab. This city is known for its old fort which has since been turned into a Brahmin monastery. This fort is famous due to the extensive siege laid down by the Mughals in the 18th century. The founder of the city is Sahib Deep Chand and it is named after his grandfather. The area surrounding the city has many rivers and lakes. Some of these lakes and swamps are famous for Snipe Shooting. The Sanatorium of Dalhousie is located nearby. The city receives a large amount of rainfall and is surrounded by scenic beauty. Akbar who was the third Mughal emperor is said to have been enthroned in a garden near Gurdaspur. The two main rivers that pass by are the Ravi and Beas. The banks are scenic and a good place for day trips. Many of the surrounding mountains and hills have small hill stations that are a short distance away and can be reached easily.

Guptkashi is situated 47kms before the holiest shrine of Lord Shiva, Kedarnath. It is located on the route to Kedarnath on a ridge on the west side of the Mandakini river valley at an elevation of 1,319mts above sea level. Guptkashi is a religiously important town of Uttarakhand as it houses ancient temples like Vishwanath temple and Ardhnareshwar temple. The centermost attraction of Guptkashi town, Manikarnik Kund is a place where two streams of the Ganga and Yamuna meet. Gaurikund, the town from where trek to Kedarnath commences is situated 34kms ahead of Guptkashi. Guptkashi is situated on the mountain facing Ukhimath town. The name Guptkashi means ‘Hidden Benares’ and the town’s mythological history is associated with the epic Mahabharata. When the Pandavas were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, Shiva first concealed himself in Gupt Kashi but later fled from them further up the valley to Kedarnath. The hereditary pilgrimage priests of Kedarnath temple live in Guptkashi. The main temple of Guptkashi is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Vishwanath – “Lord of the Universe”. It is built by regional stones and is situated in an enclosed courtyard. The small temple to its left is Ardhanarishvara.

Guptkashi has a great importance quite like that of Kashi. The ancient Vishwanath temple, Ardhnareshwar temple and Manikarnik Kund, where the two streams of Ganga and Yamuna are believed to meet, are the main places of attraction in Guptkashi. It is believed that after the battle of Mahabharata, the Pandavas wanted to meet Lord Shiva and seek his blessing. But Lord Shiva evaded from Guptkasi to Kedarnath as he did not want to meet the Pandavas, the reason being that although they had fought for the right cause, they were also responsible for destroying their own dynasty. Guptkashi is situated at an elevation of 1319 mts. The one Stupa is situated in Nala which is quite close to Ukhimath. Some local people call it the grave of Rana Nal.

Gorai is a small village that is located in the North Western part of the state of Maharashtra. Gorai is a place that is known for its beaches and there are long stretches of empty beaches in the village. Gorai has three main churches, the oldest among them is the Reis Magos and this is situated near the Vairalla Tank. The new parish church and the Infant Jesus Chapel are the other churches that are located in the town. The new parish church is also called the Three Magi Church and this was built in 1810. Infant Jesus Chapel is a relatively new church and was built near the ruins of an old church. These are interesting places to visit in Gorai. Gorai has not been affected by the fast pace of city life and still retains its old world charm and laid back atmosphere. This is a good place to escape the hustle and bustle of the main cities and unwind. Gorai is also known for its all night parties. Gorai experiences a tropical monsoon type climate and summers are extremely hot and humid.
