HistoryEdit

Hatkoti is a small village located on the banks of river Pabbar. near Shimla and is known for its small yet beautiful temples. Located at an altitude of 1100 mts above sea level, the holy town is equally popular for its serene ambiance and mesmerising natural views. Hatkoti enjoys pleasant climate throughout the year. The Hatkoti temples have suffered at the hands of time. Further down the river Pabar, there used to be many more temples of this nature, with elaborately carved stonewalls and doors made of wood. But most of these temples have been reduced to rubble. At the heart of the Hatkoti valley stand the hills of Sunpuri, merging into each other, making it sacred for the localities to call it the Ardhnarishwar. Surmounting this hillock is a small temple with another finely chiseled image of Mahishasurmardini, made of stone. Small temples scattered nearby are said to have been built by the Pandavas and the local people call them ‘Panzo Pandoora Ghaurdoo’ (The toy houses of the five Pandavas). A charoo (large bronze vessel) stands battered with age on one side of the mandap of the Mahishasurmardini temple securely chained to an image of Ganesha positioned inside the temple.

The unique magnificence and splendor of the state of Arunachal Pradesh and its exquisite capital, Itanagar is a joy to visit. The warmth of the music loving populace and the amicable weather throughout the year are other reasons that attract tourists in hordes towards this quiet state. Itanagar, the ‘Land of Dawn lit Mountains’ is divided into two parts, the other is known as Naharlagun. A warm but pleasant climate prevails in Itanagar all through the year. Security of the tourists was also another bone of contention during an uncertain phase which is history. English, Aptani, Hindi, Assamese, Nishi, and Adi are languages that are widely spoken in Arunachal Pradesh. Itanagar offers various attractions for a wandering soul that include the Ita fort, Ganga Lake or the Gyakar Sinyi, the Namdhapa National Park. Itanagar is also noted as an archaeological site due to the presence of various heritage monuments in the vicinity. A long walk on the city streets and by-lanes will overwhelm you the exquisite wood carvings, creatively performed traditional musical instruments and intricate textile patterns. The Handicraft Centre provides an insight into the fine art of cottage cane industry.
