Kheda is located in the Kheda district of the Indian state of Gujarat. This town is mainly a pilgrim destination, due to the large number of temples located in the region. Pilgrims from across India flock to these temples throughout the year, due to the rich religious significance that these temples in Kheda hold. Tourists also prefer travelling to Kheda to merge with the pilgrim crowd and to witness the architecture of these old temples. While travelling to the town of Kheda, you must visit the famous temple in Dakor. The temple at Dakor is dedicated to the main deity Lord Krishna. Pilgrims also come to the temple at Dakor in order to see the idol of Lord Ranchhodraiji. There are many other temples dedicated to Lord Krishna that are located in Kheda. You can also take a trip to Shree Mahalakshmi temple, which is located in near the scenic Vatra River. This temple is an old one and is almost 100 years old. The statue in this temple is that of the Goddess Mahalakshmi and the catch here is that this statue is entirely made of pure marble. The Shree Mankameshwar temple in Kheda is also worth a visit.

By Train : The town of Kheda does not have a major railway station, and the nearest railway station is the one in Ahmedabad. Since the city of Ahmedabad is located at a distance of only fifty to sixty kilometres from Kheda, you can take a train to Ahmedabad and travel to Kheda via bus from there. Ahmedabad has frequent trains to the cities of Mumbai, Vadodara, Delhi, Chennai, and Pune, and train fares from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.

Khandala is located just stone’s throw away from Lonavala, Khandala is an ideal picnic spot filled with various sight seeing spots, panoramic sunsets and various caves to be explored. Visit Khandala during the months of October to May, as during the other months the area experiences heavy rains making the road slippery. Some of the most popular places to see in Khandala are – Walvan Dam, Karla and Bhaja Caves, Tagauli Lake and Bhusi Lake. Shopping for the chikki and jams here is not to be missed. The popular regional festivals are the Banganga festival that falls in August and the Ganesh Chaturthi dedicated to Lord Ganesh that falls in September. Both these festivals are celebrated here with much fervor and gaiety. Khandala can be visited anytime of the year.

Because of its strategic location, various dynasties have vied for control of Khandala and surrounding regions. Khandala was a part of the Yadava dynasty which ruled the region from its capital at Devgiri. It was controlled by the Mughals too. Several forts including Lohagad, Tunga and Tikona were handed over by Shivaji to the Mughals under the Treaty of Purandar. Several forts in the region were important battle stations during the reign of Shivaji and subsequent Maratha rule. Khandala and Lonavala hill stations were discovered by Lord Elphinstone, the then Governor of Bombay Presidency in 1871.

The aim behind the celebration of this musical carnival is to protect the existing rich heritage. According to the legend Lord Ram had stayed here for some time on his return from Lanka after winning over Ravan. The natives were probably Shaivites and worshiped Shivalinga (Phallus stone). Kevadia Narmada is an area that is located downstream from a dam on the Narmada River. The entire area is known for its scenic beauty with its many small streams, rivulets and thick forests. There are many small lakes that can be seen in the area of Kevadia Narmada as well. The place is surrounded by hills and it has many picturesque view points and watering holes.The place is being developed with many hotels and also a golf course, and tourism is being encouraged in the Kevadia Narmada.The forests of the Narmada area are home to many species of animals and plants and this is one of the most popular tourist spots in the state. Some of the interesting places in the area are, Nehru Foundation Sthal, River View Point, and the Mahadev Temple (which is an ancient temple that was submerged in water and has been reconstructed). There is another Shiva Temple called the Aditheswar Mahadev Temple that is located in the place and this is one of the most visited places in the Narmada Dam area. Some of the lakes that one can see are the Panchmilli Lake, Kalvani Lake, Vagdam Lake and many others. There are view points that are located in and around the dam as well. The place is characterized by typically hot summer conditions and the temperatures during this period are high. The monsoon season brings rainfall and much needed relief from the heat and the best time to visit is just after the end of the monsoon and towards the beginning of the winter season. Winters are mild and the conditions are pleasant.

Kaziranga National Park is located in the state of Assam and it has been declared as a world heritage site. The park is a popular place and many tourists can be seen here during the peak tourist seasons. The park is home to the one horned rhino and two thirds of the world’s populations of rhinos are located in the Kaziranga Park. Kaziranga has achieved relatively good amount of success in conservation of wildlife and one can see many species of animals and birds in the park. The wildlife sanctuary experiences three main seasons and they are summer, monsoon and winter season. Summers are hot and temperatures can rise rapidly during the peak season. Those who visit the town during this time have to be prepared for extreme conditions.

Kawardha is a small town in the State of Chhattisgarh which was previously a part of Madhya Pradesh. The place is situated in the region around the Maikal Ranges and lies to the South east of the Kanha National Park and to the South of River Sakri.
