Krishnagiri is a small city that is located in the Krishnagiri District in the State of Tamil Nadu. It is an extremely fertile region and mainly known for its agriculture. Krishnagiri is generally believed to be the origin place of mangoes. Krishnagiri is located around 90 km South of and around 45 km from. The Krishnagiri Dam is one of the leading attractions in the place and it is currently being expanded. Krishnagiri is one of the oldest inhabited areas in the country. There are many archeological sites that can be found in the area. Many of them date back to the Neolithic, Monolithic and Paleolithic ages. There are many cave and rock paintings that can be seen in the area and they date back to the Indus Valley civilizations. Evidence of inhabitation during the Iron Age has also been found in Krishnagiri. Krishnagiri was ruled by the Chola Kings and Kongu Nadu Kings. Their influences can be found even today in Krishnagiri. Krishnagiri has been ruled by many other dynasties such as Cholas, Pandyas, Cheras, Nulambas and Bijapur empires. The ancient fort that is located in Krishnagiri pays tribute to the architectural brilliance of these rulers. There are many temples and other sites that are found in the region as well.

Krishnagiri fort and the surrounding areas came under the rule of Hoysalas, Chattrapathi sivaji, Nawab of cuddapah, Wodeyars of mysore, Bijapur sultan and Aurangzeb one after the other.Krishnagiri was ruled by Hyder ali and Tipu sultan of Mysore in the 18th century. The krishnagiri fort was under their control. In 1768 this fort came under british control for a short period of time. But Hyder Ali retained the krishnagiri fort with him shortly after war with british. At the end of Third Anglo-Mysore war, by the Treaty of Srirangapatna in 1792 the krishnagiri fort & the surrounding areas then called as Barah mahal(Barah mahal means twelve forts, the surrounding areas has twelve forts) was surrendered to the british forever.

By Air : The nearest international airport is located at Bangalore. There are frequent buses that are available from Bangalore to Krishnagiri. Most buses that travel to Chennai travel through Krishnagiri. Private taxis and prepaid taxis are available from the Bangalore airport. Taxis cost around Rs 800 and government buses cost around Rs 50.

By Train : The nearest railway station is located at Hosur. Trains that travel to Chennai pass through this route and there are many options to choose from. Hosur is situated around 45 km from Krishnagiri. Taxis are available from the Hosur railway station.

By BUS : Both government buses and private buses connect Krishnagiri to Bangalore and Chennai. Many buses stop at Krishnagiri while travelling along the Hosur-Chennai route. Government buses are cheap and crowded. They are not a comfortable way to travel. Private buses have the option of A/C as well and they are the better option.

By Taxi : Taxis and Auto rickshaws are easily available for moving about in the city.

Narnaul is an old city which dates back to the time of the Mahabharata and Ramayana. The old town has many ancient buildings and temples that have tested the sands of time. The Dhosi hill which is located around 8 km from the city is famous for being the origin of the famous Chyavanprash which is health product that is widely manufactured today. Naranul is home to many tombs and historical sites that date back to the Mughal dynasty as well as the Rajput dynasty. The princes of Jaipur and Patiala also ruled the city after the fall of the Mughal Dynasty. Nandi Hills, also known as Nandidurga, are small hillocks near Bangalore. It is located 65 km from Bangalore and 1,478 meters above the sea level. It was the summer resort of Tipu Sultan. This hill station is a famous tourist spot because it is blessed with pleasant climate throughout the year. Before being conquered by the British forces under Lord Cornwallis, Nandi Hills was a Mysore Fort. It was captured by the British in the year 1791. The hill has been named after the beautiful statue of Nandi, the bull. This bull guards the outside of the Yoganandeeshwara temple. Yoganandeeshwara Temple is the dwelling of Shiva the austere on the top of the hills and this temple was built by the Cholas. This antediluvian temple also has a dedication in the name of Sambhaji who was the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji. The flora of the hills is distinctive of high hills. Besides Coffea Arabica, there are some more aboriginal species. Eucalyptus is grown inside the fort which is an exotic plant. The forest around the hills acts as a substratum for the condensation of clouds and this is the reason that most of the trees are covered with water in the mornings. Many species of birds and animals can also be seen in the hills.

Nandi Hills The beautiful and historic Nandi Hills, popularly known as Nandi Betta or Nandi Durga for the locals and the people of Karnataka .Nandi Hills got its name from the ancient Dravidian temple dedicated to the Nandi Bull statue that’s located here, and Nandi is believed to be the mount of Lord Shiva. There are actually two Nandi Temples here, one is in the village at the foot hills and the other is at the top of the hill.Nandi Hills was earlier known as Ananda Giri during the reign of the Cholas, which stands for the ‘Hill of Happiness’. As per folklore, the name might have originated with the visit of Yoga Nandeeshwara who also conducted penance here. As per another belief, the resemblance of the hills to the sleeping Nandi Bull gave the name to this place.

By Air : The nearest airport is Bangalore international airport. It is about 58 km away from Nandi Hills. Taxis are available in the airport and fare is about Rs 1,200 from airport to Nandi hills. From Bangalore airport one can travel to all the major cities in India and many cities abroad.

By Train : Nearest railway station is Chikkaballapur, which is situated at a distance of 9 km away from Nandi Hills. Taxi charge from railway station to Nandi Hills costs about Rs 200. Nearest major rail junction is Bangalore, which is well connected all the other cities in India. There is a regular train service from Chikkaballapur to Bangalore.

By Bus : Government Transport buses carries out frequent services from cities like Nandigrama, Bangalore and Chikkaballapur to Nandi Hills. Deluxe bus services are available from Bangalore to Nandi Hills and it costs about Rs 200 per head.

By Taxi : Taxis are another preferred mode of transport from the base of the hill. They charge around Rs 300. It is advisable to hire taxis from nearby cities and use this for local transport around the place.

By Other : You can opt for auto rickshaws in order to travel to the top part of the Nandi Hills from the base of the hill. Nalgonda is a town that is located in the Nalgonda District of the State of Andhra Pradesh.
