Navadvipa, literally means nine (nava) islands (dvip), is a town consisting of nine islands looking like an eight-petaled lotus flower. The Navadvipa town has a circumference of thirty miles. The islands are centered on Antardvipa (Mayapur). It is a part of Mayapur Township. Navadaipa form the centre of the Gaura Mandala region in West Bengal, near to Kolkata. The center location of the Navadvipa islands is known as Yogapitha. It is the holy place where Lord Chaitanya took birth in the Earth. Navadvipa, also called as Nabadwip, was the erstwhile capital of Bengal during 12th century. Today it is renowned as the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is revered by the Hindu devotees. The town is ideally located at a picturesque place at the convergence of the Bhagirathi and Jalangi Rivers.

By Train : The nearest broad gauge railway station is located in the town of Kalka, which lies at a distance of 125 kilometres from the town of Narkanda. Toy trains can be taken on the Kalka-Shimla route in order to reach Narkanda for fares ranging between Rs 30 to 280.

Namdapha Tiger reserve in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh is spread in an area of 1,850-sq-kms rugged terrain. Perhaps no other national park in the world has a wider attitudinal variation than the Namdapha national park that rises from 200m to 4,500m in the snow-capped mountain. This variation has given rise to the growth of diverse habitats of flora and fauna. For the truly dedicated wilderness and wildlife fan, a visit to the Namdapha National Park is a challenging one. It is also an ideal place for trekking and hiking The beautiful forests possess great bio diversity of Flora and Fauna. A detailed study of its species and genetic variation has not yet been thoroughly done. Namdapha is a Botanist’s dream and it may take as long as 50 years to complete a comprehensive survey of its botanical resources. There are more than 150 timber species. The Pinus Merkusi and Abies Delavavi are not found any where else in India than here. One of the rarest and endangered orchids, the Blue Vanda is also found here. The most famous local medicinal plant Mishimi Teeta, which is used by the local tribals to cure all kinds of diseases, is available here.Namdapha National Park is famed for its tropical, evergreen rainforests, and for its incredible biodiversity. Majuli is an island that is located in the state of Assam and it is situated in the River Brahmaputra. It is considered as one of the largest fresh water islands in South East Asia and also one of the biggest river islands in the world. One can see many wetlands all over the island and the place is generally lush green and pristine. One can witness the neo-Vaishanvite culture in the island of Majuli. The inhabitants of the villages in Majuli are generally tribals and they have their own cultures and traditions that are unique and interesting. One can witness many festivals in the place and they are colorful and vibrant.One can opt for boat rides from any of the villages as the villagers are expert navigators. Small catamarans and canoes are available and can be hired from the villagers. The main festival in the town of Majuli is called Raas and witnessing this will be an interesting spectacle. The villagers of the town also make pottery and these can be bought as souvenirs. Face masks are also made in the town, especially during the festive period and these are interesting objects to purchase as well. The surrounding forests are home to many migratory birds. Majuli Island experiences a monsoon type of climate and the conditions are wet for many months of the year, especially during the monsoon season. Summer season can be hot and conditions are humid for long periods. Light cotton clothing is required if you are visiting during this time. The monsoon season is extensive and rainfall is plentiful. Winters are cool and this is the peak tourist season.
