Puthia Temple Complex consists of a cluster of notable old Hindu temples. The temples were built by Hindu Zamindars Rajas of the Puthia Raj family who were noted philanthropists of Rajshahi. The temples have been built in terracotta in a variety of styles combining the typical Jor-bangla architecture with other influences. The Rajbari or Palace of the Raja of Puthia and the Dol Mancha are part of the complex. The temples are laid out around a lake with a sprawling lawn.

The park has opened less than six months ago. First of all it shouldn’t be called a safari park at all. Its actually a zoo on a huge area. The animals are poorly maintained. Try to avoid on a weekend/holiday, the crowd is pathetic! Only the small bird aviary has been likable so far where you can actually roam inside the big bird cage. Haven’t got opportunity to get on the tiger safari ride for the huge cue. 50% of the park is still under development and it looks that the park is years old! You must be ready to walk at least 5/6 km to visit the whole park on foot.

Bhawal National Park, Gazipur covers 940 hectares but extends to 5,022 hactar of surrounding forest. Its purpose is to protect important habitats as well as to provide opportunities for recreation. It has been kept under IUCN Management Category V, as a protected landscape. The most common flora is the unique coppice sal forest. The area was noted for peacocks, tiger, leopard, black panther, elephant, clouded leopard and sambar deer. However much of the wildlife had disappeared and only a few species remain. Also, most of the forest has been denuded and is now occupied by forestry companies or displaced people. The park has 220 plant species, including 43 different tree species, 19 shrubs, 3 palms, 27 grasses, 24 vines, and 104 herbs. The wildlife in the park includes 13 mammals, 9 reptiles, 5 birds and 5 amphibians. In addition the Forest Department has recently introduced peacocks, deers, pythons, and cat fish.

Gandhi Memorial with seven stupas is the tallest structure in the Vijaywada skyline, the monument built in the memory of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi with 7 Stupas. it is the first in country, and was constructed on this hill at a height of 500 ft. Gandhi Memorial Library, a Sound and Light Show on Mahatma Gandhi’s life and Planetarium are the added attractions of Gandhi Hill, climb to the top of the hill for a bird’s eye view of the town , which attract the tourists. Gandhi Memorial with 15.8 m. High, seven stupas is the first Gandhi Memorial in India constructed on a hillock. Gandhi hill which was formally known as “Orr Hill”. It has the teachings of Gandhi inscribed on stone slabs . The first Gandhi Memorial with seven stupas in the country was constructed on this hill at a height of 500 ft. The 52 ft. stupa was unveiled on 6th October, 1968 by Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then President of India.

Mogalarajapuram Caves, situated near Vijayawada is well-known for the three cave temples and is said to be as old as 5th century AD. One of the three cave temples carries an impressive carving of ‘Ardhanariswara’ which is known as one of its kind in south India. This cave temple has carved deities of Lord Vinayaka and Lord Shiva in Nataraja form and hence, is one of the major Vijayawada attractions. This is a very attractive and antique temple to visit and to observe the ancient standard of living.

The Mogalarajapuram Caves are known for its five rock-cut sanctuaries that date back to around the 5th century. These caves are now in ruins. The caves have religious significance due to the presence of the idols of Lord Nataraja and Lord Vinayaka in some of them. Besides the caves, the Mogalarajapuram Temple is also a prominent attraction. This temple is enshrined with the statue of ‘Ardhanarisvara’ that is believed to be the oldest in South India.
